SFO NEVER APPOINT COMPANIES TO CONDUCT COURSES
LP/15/02/03 Wednesday, February 26, 2003

KUCHING, Wed:- The State Financial Office (SFO) had never appointed or recognized any private company or agency to conduct courses for Bumiputera contractors in the State, the office today clarified in a statement.

The SFO expressed concern that of late certain quarters had invited contractors through advertisment to attend courses organised by them and claimed that such courses would facilitate registration of companies with SFO.

The statement pointed out that SFO only recognised courses organized by its Supplier and Contractor Development Unit (UPKP) or other relevant government agencies.

The people, contractors in particular, are advised to attend only courses organised or sanctioned by UPKP for the purpose of registration with SFO.

Certificates are given away to contractors who have successfully completed the course based prescribed module, quality and standard that would qualify them to be considered for registration with the office.

Contractors were also told to avoid the services of middlemen to apply for registration of their companies with SFO and were advised to deal directly with its Contractors Registration Unit (UPK).

Further information on courses and registration can be obtained from Unit Pembangunan Kontraktor dan Pembekal (UPKP), Pejabat Setiausaha Kewangan Negeri, Tingkat 18, Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Petra Jaya, 93502 Kuching (Tel: 082 – 492343)
